Steps

• Rinse the carafe and mesh filter with hot water to minimize heat loss.
• Place the mesh filter inside the carafe.
• For one cup or mug of coffee, weigh 24 grams (or three tablespoons) of your favorite medium/coarse ground coffee and fill the mesh filter with it.
• Heat 350 ml of water to a temperature of 200-205 degree Fahrenheit.
• “Bloom” the coffee by pouring hot water, just enough to soak the ground coffee. Pour it in a circular motion so that you cover all of the ground coffee. Do not use boiling water.
• Let the ground coffee bloom for 30-40 seconds in order to release the carbon dioxide from the ground coffee; pour the rest of the water on the soaked coffee. Fill it to the top after every 30 seconds till you have used all the water.
• Wait for the brew to drip into the carafe. Ensure that all of the water passes through the mesh filter.
• Remove the mesh filter and pour yourself a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
• If you find the above ratio too mild or too strong, adjust the coffee-to-water ratio next time.
